“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed…”

Jesus didn’t come to earth to show us what God can do. He came to demonstrate what man is capable of when standing in a right relationship with the Father. Jesus is the Last Adam, the fulfillment of the Old Testament ways of living. He is also the Second Man and the prototype for Christian living; the only example worth following. So we are going to follow His lead and live within the reality of the kingdom of God; the rightful position of those who worship in Spirit and in Truth.

One of the first records of Jesus’ teaching, after choosing disciples, was a re-establishment of the nature of His kingdom. He introduced a common thought pattern by saying, “you have heard it said…” and then He corrected, rebuked and established truth by continuing with, “But I tell you this…” The fruit of His correct thinking and teaching was a group of “uneducated, ordinary men” that took with them the same power and authority the Father gave to His Son.

This school year, we are going to produce a ‘kingdom culture’ within ourselves in order to take it with us every where we go. “But I tell you this”, will be our goal. We will study what the kingdom of heaven looks like and produces and then compare it to the mindsets and actions that govern our lives.
